We recommend completing the prerequisites before continuing your journey through the steps:

There aren't a ton of pre-requisites for this part other than making sure your walls are clean and free of rust.
That said, there are a ton of different considerations; it's truly one of the more simple projects you'll do in the van build once you figure out the what and why of it. There are tons materials you can use to insulate your van and tons of reasons why you should use each one, so we recommend researching a bit about it and how it works before determining the best fit for you.

SOUND DAMPENING - ACOUSTIC INSULATION:

Measure the area that needs coverage
Cut sound dampening material to size
Stick on surface area
Use a roller to firmly stick on
Repeat until the floor, walls, wheel wells, ceiling, etc. are all covered.

OUTER WALL - THERMAL INSULATION:

To make best use of the materials you have and not get left with any awkward amounts, start with your largest surface areas and compare it to the width of your insulation – this will help figure out how much it can cover with the least amount of cuts
Measure the surface area you want covered
Cut the insulation to size
Shake and spray your adhesive to the wall and let sit for 30-60 seconds
Note: Check your insulation directions to find out what adhesive it will need
Press insulation against the wall
Continue this process until walls, ceilings, doors, and all thermal breaks are covered.

INNER WALL - LOW-E REFLECTIVE (REFLECTIX) INSULATION:

Ensure you will at least 1 inch of space on one side of the reflectix/low-e
Measure from the floor to ceiling of your van
Cut the reflectix/low-e to size
You can either stick it to the walls using adhesive, or secure it behind the wall framing/walls when you build those up.

Tape below where you are cutting to help catch metal shards so you don't track them throughout your van and/or home
The parts of the van that get cut can get extremely sharp so you'll want to wear gloves whenever you can and be careful when handling any part of the van that has been cut
Cut the top part of the window first, and before moving to the bottom edge of the window be sure to add a few strips of tape to hold the window in place so it doesn't fall as you cut it out.
- If you have a second person, they could use pliers to hold the edge while you cut.
